The Creative Content Specialist will increase and enhance the fan experience during live events while supporting revenue generating ventures, including sponsored in-game content. Through storytelling, this position will perform video shooting, editing, and producing creative video content for Kansas Athletics and its various sports programs. This position requires strong creativity skills and a desire to tell stories of Kansas Athletics, coaches, and student-athletes. Duties may also include pre-game preparation and creative production with an emphasis on creative and impactful content for all our sports. This position may also include live game-day crew duties for TV and in-venue productions such as editing for all athletic platforms (live event editing, in-venue, television, web, etc.).

 

Duties and Responsibilities of all Positions at Kansas Athletics:

Adhere to University, Big 12 Conference, Kansas Athletics and NCAA policies and procedures;

Maintain knowledge of departmental activities, sports schedules and procedures;

Foster cooperative working relationships with fellow staff members within the department;

Support the athletics departmental goals and philosophies as described by the Director of Athletics, and works to achieve and uphold the department’s mission statement and core values;

Maintain a positive attitude toward performing job duties and working with other staff members;

Exhibit professional decorum at all times while representing Kansas Athletics, including routine events and meetings that occur outside of the office and on the road;

Maintain the confidentiality of all information obtained while an employee of Kansas Athletics including all private, confidential, or sensitive information and ensuring compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Position: 

Produce high level video content for Kansas Athletics that includes shooting and editing dynamic pieces for all sport platforms, i.e. website, social channels, television network, in-venue interactive signage, live production, etc.;

Responsible for content creation plans and execution for assign sports and projects;

Shoot, edit and produce video content for social media, recruiting, live production, pre and post-game content, and other live videoboard/television productions;

Assist in the live game-day crew duties and production activities for in-house Rock Chalk Video production across all our platforms, and TV/Cable/Media needs;

Assist in the video production needs of the entire Kansas Athletics department by assisting the various departments, social media, and Jayhawk TV;

Work closely with web hosting company; Jayhawk Sports Marketing; Jayhawk TV and Radio Networks; and the Kansas Athletics Communications and Creative/Branding departments to ensure full integration and interactivity with all digital platforms;

Mentor and collaborate with a group of student interns on all aspects of video production and creation;

Travel with various Kansas Athletics sports teams, as assigned, to capture, edit, and develop event-related footage;

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university;

Minimum three years of experience in sports media production at the Collegiate or Professional sports level, athletic Media Relations or related field;

Working knowledge of the following social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Instagram;

High level creative video editing experience with demonstrated editing skills, and experience using professional editing software;

Demonstrated proficiency and experience using After Effects and Photoshop software;

Demonstrated ability to work effectively under multiple, strict deadlines in a fast-paced office environment with the capacity to adapt quickly to major and minor changes in projects and outcomes;

Ability to work well both independently and in collaboration with staff as a team member;

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills;

Demonstrated problem-solving skills and solutions focused approach to challenges and improvements;

Ability and willingness to work frequent evenings, weekends, or holidays coinciding with Kansas Athletics events throughout the year;

Ability and willingness to travel frequently for Kansa Athletic sporting events to provide video production support throughout the year.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge or experience with the Venus Operating System

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and various digital devices, including, but not limited to:  cell phone, printer, copy machine, and other related devices. This job requires flexibility and adaptability in schedule and the ability to perform job related duties on short notice.

Frequent travel may occur for this position.

 Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work will vary based on the needs of the position. Early morning, evening and weekend work maybe required.
